Disconnection isn't just a mental or emotional state—it's a bodily state. When you're numb, your nervous system has downregulated. You're not fully inhabiting your body. You might feel like you're watching your life from outside of it, or like your body belongs to someone else. Coming home to feeling means coming home to your body.
Start with simple embodiment practices. Notice your feet on the ground. Feel the texture of fabric on your skin. Take a conscious breath and notice the temperature of the air as it enters your body. These aren't meditation practices designed to make you special or achieve transcendence—they're simple acts of returning to your physical presence. Your lover needs you back in your body. That's where emotion lives. That's where genuine presence originates.
Emotional reconnection requires returning to your body and learning to feel at a somatic, embodied level.
